This means that your child is offered a seat from the campus.
Starting on Monday, February 25th, you will have 2 business days to accept the placement at a campus.

Accept Placement:

If you accept placement at our campus, you will forfeit placement at all other campuses. You will have 10
business days to complete the registration process which includes: filling out the registration forms and submitting all required
documentation such as proof of residence, transcripts, discipline records, immunizations, and student identification.

Decline Placement:

If you decline placement, you will be removed from that Harmony campus lottery list only.

Wait List:

This means that your child is placed on the wait list for the campus. As students accept/decline spots on the offered
list, your child will move up. If your child moves up to the offered list, the system will send you a message through Smart Choice.

HARMONY SCHOOL OF DISCOVERY – HOUSTON is sharing this information about the district and your child’s campus with you as part of its obligations under the federal Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015 (ESSA).

Federal Report Cards for the state, the district, and each of the district’s campuses are now available on the district’s website at this link.

Information on these report cards includes:

Part (i): General Description of the Texas State Accountability System

(I) the minimum number of students that the State determines are necessary to be included in each of the subgroups of students for use in the accountability system;

(II) the long-term goals and measurements of interim progress for all students and for each of the subgroups of students;

(III) the indicators used to meaningfully differentiate all public schools in the State;

(IV) the State’s system for meaningfully differentiating all public schools in the State, including—

(aa) the specific weight of the indicators in such differentiation;

(bb) the methodology by which the State differentiates all such schools;

(cc) the methodology by which the State differentiates a school as consistently underperforming for any subgroup of students; and

(dd) the methodology by which the State identifies a school for comprehensive support and improvement;

(V) the number and names of all public schools in the State identified by the State for comprehensive support and improvement or implementing targeted support and improvement plans;

(VI) the exit criteria established by the State, including the length of years established.


Part (ii): Student Achievement by Proficiency Level

This section provides information on student achievement on the STAAR (State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness) performance for mathematics, ELA/reading, and science by grade level and proficiency level for the 2017–18 school year. These results include all students tested, regardless of whether they were in the accountability subset.

Part (iii)(I): Academic Growth

This section provides information on students’ academic growth for mathematics and ELA/reading for public elementary schools and secondary schools which don’t have a graduation rate. These results include all students tested, regardless of whether they were in the accountability subset.

Part (iii)(II): Graduation Rate

This section provides information on high school graduation rates.

Part (iv): English Language Proficiency

This section provides information on the number and percentage of English learners achieving English language proficiency.

Part (v): School Quality or Student Success (SQSS)

This section provides information on the other indicator of school quality or student success, which is college, career and military readiness (CCMR) for high schools and average performance rate of the three STAAR performance levels of all students, regardless of whether they were in the accountability subset, for elementary and secondary schools without a graduation rate.


Part (vi):  Goal Meeting Status

This section provides information on the progress of all students and each student group toward meeting the long-term goals or interim objectives on STAAR academic performance, federal graduation rate, and English learners’ language proficiency.

Part (vii): STAAR Participation

This section provides the percentage of students assessed and not assessed for mathematics, ELA/reading, and science.

Part (viii): Civil Rights Data

Part (viii)(I) The section provides information submitted by school districts to the Office for Civil Rights on measures of school quality, climate, and safety.

Part (viii)(II) This section provides information submitted by school districts to the Office for Civil Rights on the number and percentage of students enrolled in preschool programs and accelerated coursework to earn postsecondary credit while still in high school.

Part (ix): Teacher Quality Data

This section provides information on the professional qualifications of teachers, including information disaggregated by high- and low-poverty schools on the number and percentage of (I) inexperienced teacher, principals, and other school leaders; (II) teachers teaching with emergency or provisional credentials; and (III) teachers who are not teaching in the subject or field for which the teacher is certified or licensed.

Part (x): Per-pupil Expenditure

This section provides information on the per-pupil expenditures of federal, state, and local funds, including actual personnel expenditures and actual non-personnel expenditures, disaggregated by source of funds, for each school district and campus for the preceding fiscal year.

Texas will delay reporting information on per-pupil expenditures until the 2018–19 school year.

Part (xi): STAAR Alternate 2 Participation

This section provides information on the number and percentage of students with the most-significant cognitive disabilities who take STAAR Alternate 2, by grade and subject.

Part (xii): Statewide National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP)

This section provides results on the state academic assessments in reading and mathematics in grades 4 and 8 of the National Assessment of Educational Progress, compared to the national average of such results.

Part (xiii): Cohort Rate of Graduates Enrolled in Postsecondary Education

This section provides information on the cohort rate at which students who graduate from the high school enroll, for the first academic year that begins after the student’s graduation, in (I) programs of public postsecondary education in Texas; and (II) programs of private postsecondary education in Texas or programs of postsecondary education outside Texas.

Dear High School Parents and Students;

Estimados Padres y Estudiantes de Secundaria;

Early in the Spring Semester students complete the registration/request process for the following year. After carefully reviewing available courses, students, parents, and teachers choose an appropriate and realistic course plan.

Durante el semestre de la primavera los estudiantes completarán su registro para el próximo año. Después de  analizar los cursos cautelosamente, los estudiantes, los padres y maestros escogerán un plan realista y apropiado que cumpla con las necesidades del alumno.

Course selections will be available between January 14th – February 15th (Except the breaks). Please, establish an appointment on school website with your counselor to make course selection throughout the Naviance.  The initial schedules will be passed out by March 25th. The students who are concerned about any course update requests must fill out the schedule change request form between March 25th to 29th, 2019 and return to their counselors. All schedules will be approved and completed by April 30th.

The schedules will only be adjusted to change courses that require tryouts/auditions and for completion of summer school courses with Dean of Academics prior approval.   It is not guaranteed that your child will receive all classes that are requested on this course selection sheet. The master schedule is planned on the basis of students’ requests and we will do our best to honor your child’s request if it is possible.

Harmony Gifted & Talented Education


In accordance with the Texas State Plan for the Education of Gifted/Talented students, Harmony Public Schools will begin taking referrals for all interested students in grades K-12 for gifted and talented screening.

Anyone interested in the educational welfare of these students may nominate them for assessment. Students in grades 2 & up who were tested in the Fall 2018 are not eligible to test in Spring 2019. Referral forms are available at the front office and on the school’s web site.

The 2019 Spring GT testing window is February 11, 2019 – March 29, 2019.

Harmony Public Schools joins the country in mourning the loss of President George H.W. Bush, a leader known as the “education president” for his tireless devotion to America’s schoolchildren.

A statewide Day of Mourning has been declared by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott for Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018, to allow Texans to pay their respects to President Bush. All Harmony Public School campuses will remain open and operating on their regular schedule on this date.

Open Enrollment 2018 - 2019 begins Thursday November 1st, 2018

The open enrollment period for new Harmony Public Schools students is approaching fast.

Open Enrollment for campuses statewide begins Nov. 1 and continues through Feb. 10 for students wishing to enroll for the Fall 2019 semester.

Do the FAFSA | The earlier the better

Hello senior parents and students!

As we mentioned on our Senior Night, we have a FAFSA workshop coming up! FAFSA is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid which is a MUST for your student to get financial aid for both community and 4-year colleges. We will also have support for students filling out TASFA. We will have access to computers and experts, college counselors will be helping you and your family to complete this form during the event. Please fill out this form at school website as an RSVP.

The session is in the high school computer lab on Tuesday, October 9th at 6 pm. Food and soft drink will be provided!

To complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the student will need:

Social Security Number
Alien Registration Number (if you are not a U.S. citizen)
Parent 2017 federal income tax returns, W-2s, and other records of money earned. (Note: You may be able to transfer your federal tax return information into your FAFSA using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool.)
Bank statements and records of investments (if applicable)
Records of untaxed income (if applicable)
An FSA ID for parent and student to sign electronically.

Dear HSD Students and Parents,

Measures of Academic Progress test (MAP) will be progressed next weeks in September.

Each student takes the MAP tests on a computer during regular class periods. Each test may take more than one hour since the tests are based on the students’ knowledge and ability.6th -10th grade students will be testing Math, Reading, Language, and Science (except 9th and 10th grades).

We would like to encourage you to motivate your child regarding this important test.

Grade 9 Thursday, October 4th 2018 at 6pm (College plans, course selection process and endorsements, AP and Dual credits, PSAT/TSI Testing, Summer opportunities)

Official Day for LSC-University Park is Monday, September 10th. The deadline to send in DC forms to us to enroll students or make schedule changes (adds/drops) is this Thursday, September 6th at 7 pm.

Please remember, the students who have not paid by this Friday, September 7th at 3 pm will be dropped from their Fall 2018 classes and will not appear on the Official Day roster for LSC
